Nose bleeds are a fairly common first aid scenario, and is one of the most commonly mismanaged. Â If you know someone who has these regularly this post will give you steps on how to manage them.
If someone is bleeding or having a nosebleed, the best position to have them in is sitting down with their head forward.
Pinch their nose for 10 minutes and see if it has stopped. Â This step can be repeated up to 3 times.
If they can feel some in their throat, get them to spit it out as this can be distressing.
Call an ambulance if it has not stopped after 30 minutes but if they are feeling dizzy or sick or looking particularly unwell then get help sooner.
