In the midst of the pandemic, people are still going to to need first aid and on occasion that will extend to CPR. The role of the first aider is still really important but there has always been a concern around the transmission of infection through performing CPR, so what if anything has changed?
It has always been the first part of the Primary Survey that we check for danger and think of our own personal safety and this is not different in the times of social distancing and the other precautions we need to take. In accordance with the epidemic and the likely absence of PPE if someone finds themselves in an emergency situation on the street, the Resuscitation Council have made some subtle changes to the way we assess and approach casualties. For more information please check out the statement below:
